Are You Watching?

Are You Watching?

Well hello.

Currently still recovering from the plague.

In the last five days I’ve left my house for a whole 45 minutes and I honestly didn’t think I was going to be able to get home I was so exhausted.

Since my brain is STILL 90% snot 10% grey matter I haven’t been doing anything but working from my couch and listening to podcasts that I don’t have to pay full attention to to understand.

Permanent Roommate infected me with this mild-melting illness. He has since recovered but I’m still breathless after walking to the kitchen and back.

The hardest part with this is constantly reminding myself to give myself grace. Not working out, not writing, barely journaling normally would make me feel like I failed the entire #last90dayschallenge and #nanowrimo. I’ll add the last five days onto the end of November (aka write until Dec 5) because I’d still like to write a book in 30 days- there will just be an illness recess in the middle. By not working out I’m letting my body recover so I can be back on my feet faster. I can make up the journaling since it’s only been a few days.

It’s okay, Anna. Promise.

To leave whoever reads this SOMETHING to entertain themselves, here’s a review for a book called Are You Watching? It’s by Vincent Ralph. I really liked it as it was possibly the most unique plot I’ve read in YEARS! It comes out in December 2019 and if you have an avid reader on your list, preorder this for them!

Readers are taken through Jessica’s jagged grief as she struggles with her mother’s death. Even though it happened a decade prior, Jessica is unable to let it go and move on with her life. The [reality] show [Jessica signs up for to bring attention to her mother’s murder] brings up anger and nightmares for Jessica. It brings out the superficial side of her friends. It brings her tension at school, with her dad, and with herself. Jessica is so obsessed with finding her mother’s killer she forgets she could be victim number fourteen.

Ralph is impeccable with his ability to get his readers’ hearts pounding. With constant twists and reveals, his plotline is perfect for the modern online era. Creating a story around using YouTube and the fickle stardom that comes with it is a brilliant, immediate connection to millions of readers, especially the millennial generation and younger.
